MURAL

CELEBRATING SANTA PAULA'S LATINO CULTURE

Latino culture is very significant in the story of Santa Paula. In this mural, Los Angeles muralist Eloy Torrez - assisted by his wife, Margaret - illustrated the rich culture of Santa Paula's Latino community. The image demonstrates their journey from laborers in the fields to business and professional fields through hard work, perseverance, and determination. The mural illustrates their love of family, country, music, and cultural awareness with the figure of the Zoot Suiter. The landmarks in the background include Our Lady of Guadalupe Church circa 1929, Santa Paula High School's bell tower circa 1939, and Main Street's clock tower circa 1905.
